  • Dr. Joshua Vaughn, Sr., DVM


    Dr. Vaughn is a 2006 graduate of Auburn University ,College of Veterinary Medicine. He practiced in Winchester, Tennessee for four years before making his home in Maury County in 2010. He was raised in western Kentucky but proudly anchors himself to his chosen home. Dr. Vaughn and his wife, Lindsey, have three children (Andy, Lilly and Ollie). Besides raising children on their farm, they raise Irish Dexter Cattle and a few donkeys and chickens. He and his family are members of Columbia First Baptist Church (First Family) and are active with their children in school, scout, and soccer activities. Dr. Vaughn's special interest in veterinary medicine lies in surgery, particularly pain sparing laser procedures ,and less invasive methods to produce rapid healing.

  • Dr. Laurel Plemmons, DVM


    Dr. Plemmons is a 2015 graduate of Washington State University, College of Veterinary Medicine. After growing up in Wyoming, she fell in love with Middle Tennesee while working a summer job during veterinary school. She is an official transplant, and excited to call Tennessee her home. She finds partnering with pet parents the most fulfilling part of being a veterinarian, and couldn't imagine dedicating her life to anything else. Her special interests within general practice include nutrition, dentistry, dermatology, and multi-modal pain management techniques. When not doctoring furries, she enjoys singing in the choir at Highland Park Baptist Church, antiquing, and catching live country music in Nashville. She has one faithful fur-kid; a German Shepherd/Red Heeler cross named Dante.

  • Lindsey Vaughn

    Practice Manager

    Since 2003, Lindsey has gained wide variety of expericne in the veterinary field, having been  a nurse at the Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine Teaching Hospital, a private practice receptionist/assistant and  an afterhours emergency veterinary assistant. She is the mother of three human children and several fur babies. Lindsey divides her time between work, children’s activities and church.

    Shannon Hines,LVMT


    Shannon is a Licensed Veterinary Medical Technician. She is a 2012 graduate from the Veterinary Technology program at Columbia State Community College. Shannon has always had a passion for working with animals and enjoys coming in every day to all of the adorable fur babies at CHFA. She has three horses (Gracy, Dixie, and Remi) and two dogs, Butch and Sadie Mae.

    Receptionist / Veterinary Asst.

    This is Mango, she decided she did not want to look at the camera!

    Samantha graduated from Middle Tennessee State University with a bachelors in history in 2005. While she has been working with animals since 2000, she came to CHFA in July of 2013. She considers it her home and her co-workers family. With fraternal twins, four dogs and five cats, she is a very busy woman!

    Evean comes to us from Fredericksburg, Virginia, where she was a legal secretary for the same group of attorneys for 28 years! She moved to Columbia in 2007 and continues to be grateful for the slower pace of life.  She came to CHFA in 2014, and fits right in with her people oriented personality.  She enjoys the opportunities to work with all the patients and pet parents. She is a grandmother, and has a rescued cat name Tabitha, a Cavapoo named Talia, and a new puppy named Layla.

    Veterinary Assistant

     Originally from St. Joe, Samantha moved with her family to Columbia at the age of six. She has always enjoyed working in the medical field, and has had her CNA and Ellis lifeguard licensures. While working on her general Associates Degree at Columbia State Community College, she is double majoring to get her EMT-Paramedic licensure. In her spare time, Samantha enjoys horseback riding, amusement parks, and anything in the great outdoors. She is the proud owner of two adorable Chihuahuas, Jo Jo Ann and Charlie Brown.
